Those Who Learn To Hold Themselves Accountable Have The Greatest Success

While we spend a great deal of our time teaching the tools and processes that help organizations and their subordinates achieve accountability, we also get the privilege of meeting those who without any urging hold themselves accountable. These individuals have a self-discipline that sets them apart.

The vast majority show up for a paycheck. Admittedly the environment, management, and their systems promote a lack of accountability and therefore the lack of performance. Yet those who in spite of such environments and managements are able to hold themselves accountable separate themselves from their fellows by great distances.

Very easy to notice – these achievers have the ability to focus on what's important, they tend not to be distracted, and they spend no time excusing why they haven't delivered. They simply deliver. It is worth saying again – 1) they know their priorities 2) they deliver to those priorities 3) they take responsibility for their actions.

If you hold yourself accountable, congratulations! If not you can start today. If you don't know how, ask someone who does – you already know who they are.
