Jack's career encompasses leadership successes in marketing, sales, research, new product development, and business growth strategy within such companies as GE, McGraw Hill, Ingersoll-Rand and Honeywell. Following a BA degree from Principia College, and 4 years as a Naval Aviator, he attained a Master's in Business from the University of Michigan.
Throughout his career, Jack has created marketing strategies that have accounted for hundreds of millions in sales for such products as Craftsman mechanics and household hand tools, Ingersol-Rand air compressors, the West Bend cordless iron and UnderCabinet Oven, the Campbell-Housfeld power painter, Hanson drill sets, the Lear portable aircraft battery charger and a variety of branded retail products in the rapidly growing nutritional supplement industry.
Working in several divisions of the General Electric Company, Jack served in a series of marketing management capacities in computers, major appliances, industrial and commercial lighting, and housewares.
Jack later joined the tool manufacturer, Disston, Inc. where he successfully grew company sales and profitability by 400 percent through product line diversification and new business direction. As Vice President, Sales and Marketing for both the Consumer and Industrial Products Divisions at Disston, Jack managed their direct sales, research, advanced engineering and design groups.
Prior to merging with Valant & Company, Jack formed The Associates Group, Inc, a consulting company focused on market research, product innovation, marketing strategy, promotions and distribution for client companies. These client companies included Emerson Electric, McGraw-Hill, Dennison, Honeywell, Gillette, General Electric, Ingersoll-Rand, Easco Tools, Lear Avia, General Housewares, Black and Decker, Stanley Products, Sears Roebuck, Westbend, Robeson, and Panasonic.
A requested speaker, Jack has developed and presented seminars (throughout the US as well as Germany, France, England, Israel, Portugal, Spain, Australia, Mexico and Canada) on research and planning, managing innovation, product line diversification, product development, and marketing new products. He holds, and is named on, several patents. |
